A long time ago on the island of Crete there lived a nasty king named King Minos. King Minos had many things including a beautiful daughter, a powerful navy, and an amazing palace. But his son died in a town called Athens on the far side of the sea. Since the incident King Minos was furious. As a result he would attack Athens.

In desperation the people of Athens made a deal with this tyrant to stop him from attacking their town.Every 9 years they would send 7 young men and 7 young women to Crete to be eaten by a horrifying monster with the head of a bull and the body of a man, known as the Minotaur.

But thankfully, there was still hope, for the young prince of Athens who went by the name of Theseus was about to go on the greatest journey of his life. He felt that sacrificing his people to the Minotaur was just plain wrong.

The 9 years quickly passed and the black sailed ships along with the soldiers of Crete came to Athens to take the 7 young men and women to to the labyrinth (a huge maze that the Minotaur was trapped in). Everyone in Athens was in terror and sorrow. Even though he knew the risk, Theseus offered himself up to the soldiers of Crete with a plan to save his people from King Mino's grasp.

When the ships arrived at Crete the soldiers brought the men and women into the thron room of Minos. Theseus spoke out and told the king that he would make a deal with him. If Theseus could slay the Minotaur then Minos would never attack Athens again. Minos made the deal thinking he would die like the others. The soldiers then locked up the men and women to be eaten the next day.

During the night Mino's daughter visited Theseus who she happened to have a liking for. She had heard about the deal he made earlier. She gave him a thread and a sword to use when he was sent into the labyrinth.

The  next day Theseus was sent into the labyrinth. The first thing he did was tie the thread around a nearby rock so he could find his way back.He journeyed deeper and deeper into the labyrinth until finally he came face to face with the Minotaur. An epic clash broke out! In the end Theseus emerged from the labyrinth with the head of the Minotaur in his hand.

He threw the Minotaur's head at the foot of the the king's thron. The king kept his word and from then on Crete never attacked Athens again. But before Theseus left he had a request. He asked the princess to marry him. She and the king excepted.
