This myth is set on the island of Crete, home to the Minoans, the Minotaur, and the legendary Labyrinth. It is located in the eastern Mediterranian and is the largest island in Greece. The island of Crete is about 200 Km from east to west and 12 to 58 Km from north to south. It had mild winters, and dry summers. Crete also had great soil for growing crops.
The Minoans (the people who inhabited Crete) based their cultuer off of the land's natural rescorces. Timber was one of them. They sold it to nearby countries like Egypt, Cyprus, Syria, and the Greek mainland. |
